I started a business, closed the business, took a job, quit the job. I moved from New York City to San Francisco to Seattle to Park City. I have spent the last eight years searching for happiness, not sure at all what it would feel like or where I would find it. I was far from certain the job was to blame for my unhappiness at that time, but it was the biggest, boldest action I could take to make me feel like I was doing something to help my cause. I left a big job at a hedge fund in New York City nearly eight years ago. The Secret Society of Happy People are having a 31 Days ~ 31 Happiness Challenges. Don a pair of silver shades (because happy people always see the silver lining), laugh (laughter is still the best medicine), smile (and the world smiles with you). Studies have found that volunteering doesn’t only help people bring joy in their lives but can also help them live longer. It can be something as simple as giving up your seat on the bus to someone else or a more elaborate gesture like volunteering your time and money to a charity of your choice. Pamela Gail Johnson is the Founder of The Secret Society of Happy People (SOHP) and is quoted as saying “I started the Secret Society of Happy People in 1998 to provide a missing voice for those who are happy and want to express it without having other people rain on their parade.
It reminds us that happiness is a personal experience and it’s also contagious!” It reminds us that sometimes a small action boosts our happiness. “The month reminds us that happiness happens one small moment at a time and it’s our job to recognise those moments when they happen. The holiday is based on the premise that happiness is unlimited and contagious and that sharing one’s happiness and can bring a lot of joy in other people’s lives.Įven though Happiness Happens Month sounds silly, it does have a very important purpose. What makes you happy? Happiness Happens Month is a whole month dedicated to celebrating what makes you happy.
We could all do with stepping back for a moment and really evaluating our lives and our priorities, to find how we can be happier.before it IS too late. but, it actually REALLY is! Now there is a whole month of the year, just to focus on what makes us happy. It's the kind of cliche' saying we hear ALL the time - "Life is too short to be unhappy".
